Structural Frame & Duct Work

Every once in a while—those cold days in Haiti—it’s not who you know but what you know. Some of us might have to read that twice.

It is not who you know but what you know.

All Metals Fabrication displayed that know-how on this small project for Bingham Construction by managing, measuring, fabricating, and installing this structural frame and duct work.

The project included approximately 50′ of elevated structural metals and 4′ Diameter and 2′ Diameter duct that required elbows, transitions, and layout. All materials were formed and fabricated at AMF and then installed on site per detailed shop drawings and planning.

Elevated Structural Metals
The project was presented to us by Bingham Construction, a local General Contracting firm working for Trinity Highway. After winning the bid, the job was handed off to Rich Rackham, one of AMF’s skilled project managers. Rich’s main hurdle was gathering accurate field dimensions that could be used to fabricate the parts so they would actually fit on the job site.

In Rich’s words, “Things always go better when the shop drawings are very accurate—nothing worse than pounding a job together with a sledge hammer! Pounding pieces together wastes time, makes for a poor job, and often results in safety issues.”

Rich successfully measured the job and transferred that knowledge into AMF’s CAD tools to help layout the square-to-round transitions and the elbows.

The end result appears pretty simple—that is just what the contractor likes.

Ultimately, the contractor was thrilled, the end customer, Trinity Highway, was thrilled and the job was completed on time and on budget.

“All Metals Fabrication was a great resource for us on this job. It was clear to us that they understood the job right from the quote. They asked the right questions if that makes sense. We felt comfortable giving them the project and they did a wonderful job. We will definitely call on their services again in the future!”
